We are at Carolina Beach after a 6.5 hour drive from Reston. Immi didn’t grumble AT ALL throughout the entire drive (she talked to herself, sang, slept and threw kisses at us from the back seat)! We are staying at immi’s grandparents’ newly (and beautifully!) finished duplex (not the one we stayed at last year) with our friends Tony, Mike, Mary, Jordan, Paul and Stephanie.
Immi is enjoying fluffy pillows on the bed.
Obviously Immi doesn’t like wearing the hat. Or maybe she just doesn’t want to look like an upside down strawberry with her green shirt.
We are going to the beach tomorrow! I’ll post pictures while there if I can get my dead laptop that I’ve sort of revived to work. Otherwise we’ll be back in about a week: )
We are watching Battlestar Galactica that we’ve netfilx-ed. Mr. Seagal has claimed his favorite spot and Immi has a cat on her tummy too.
Immi is having tea. She seems to know exactly what to do with the tea set. She pours her imaginary tea in the pot into her cup, then stir in some imaginary sugar with the spoon. I guess immi has been watching us do tea!

Immi seems to be suddenly interested in doodling. This past weekend, she wanted the waitress’ little notepad and pen, and she has asked me for pen and paper several times since at home.
Immi had been wanting to stick her hand into the cat food bowl and try to eat them. That is until several weeks ago when a piece of cat food that Mr. Seagal has dragged into the bedroom went crunch in her mouth before I could get to it. It must have tasted awful because it made her cry! …and she hasn’t bothered kitty food since.
Immi likes to walk around when we go out. She says “Hi!!” to anyone who come her way.
Immi wants to play dress-up all day. She wants to put stuff on and off by herself (if she can’t, she’ll grumpily come asking for help). She even managed to put on a sweater correctly once. The unfortunate side effect is that sometimes she wants to take her shirt off at quite random times during the day.
Aunt Junko is here this weekend! She just might be Immi’s favorite person. Immi loves her so much that she is beating her up with a remote controller…
We adopted this siamese kitten while strolling around the mall. Immi spent the last hour clutching him in her stroller.
Immi is waiting for her dad to get ready to go to dinner at her grandparents’. I guess the cat is coming with us as well.
Immi is playing dress-up. She enjoys playing dress-up: she likes to try on other people’s shoes (they tend to be far too big), carry around purses, wear almost any random things around her neck, and put on wrist cuffs. I’m trying to persuade her that sunglasses and hats are fun because it’s almost summer. She was pulling off sunglasses as soon as I put them on her, but now she’ll keep it on for several moments or even walk across a room wearing it.
She wants to try on my sunglasses too.
Immi is wearing her winter hat because she doesn’t have any summer hat because I haven’t bought any because she won’t wear it anyways (We’ll go get one when she decides she wants to wear one…).
Immi had a 15 month checkup today. She is now
Height: 28 3/4 inches
Weigt: 16.8 lb
…and well, the pediatrician (a different one than the doctor we’ve been seeing at the same office) was happy with Immi’s development all except for her weight. Despite that her blood test came back completely normal a while back (maybe she didn’t see it in her folder?). Besides, Immi looks very healthy (chubby cheeks, a little potbelly, really muscular legs…).
Anyway, Todd and I are getting increasingly annoyed by doctors’ concern that Immi compares small to the “average” when they admit that the weight chart was based on formula-fed middle class white babies in one geological location (…especially when increasingly large portion of our population is considered obese!). What is really silly is that the doctor is not concerned about Immi’s super-size head when it measures almost as far off from the 50 percentile curve as her weight only in different direction.
Immi fell asleep in the car tired from the vaccines she got. Her dad didn’t want to take her shoes off because he worried that it might wake her up. …And look who is in Imm’s crib when he knows he shouldn’t be in there! (After over a year of obeying “no kitties in crib and playpen” rule, we’ve been spotting mr. seagal and oskar hanging out in the crib while we are away these days. I am quite sure that Miss Monroe takes naps in the crib as well, but she is too smart to get caught)
Immi pointed at my mouth so I told her that it was my mouth. Then, when I pushed Immi’s nose and said “nose”, Immi replied by pointing at her own eye and saying “eye!”!! …I guess Immi is way ahead of me, she just doesn’t make it obvious too often.
After rejecting both soy-milk and organic milk many times during past several month, Immi is finally drinking soy-milk! She seems to prefer drinking things (until now, mostly just water which she loves) with straws to sippy cups. Actually, her favorite is regular cup, but I’ll have to hold it with her because she’ll throw it when she is done.
Oskar and Miss Monroe are competing to become Immi’s new best friend because she is handing out kitty-grass (Mr. Seagal is strictly a carnivore).
A little birdie made a nest and laid eggs on the office room windowsill. But now there is only one egg, I guess the other one got eaten: (
Juraj is staying with us tonight on his way to Charlottesville for his graduation at UVA (Congratulation Dr. Juraj, Dr. Shana and Dr. Mary!!!!!!) which is on sunday. We haven’t seen Juraj in over a year (and Immi hadn’t met him in person yet!) because he had moved from C’ville to Miami a while back.
Immi is getting her very first piano lesson from Juraj who is a totally fantastic pianist.
Immi rummaged through my stash of craft/sewing supply — we are playing “what-ever-immi-wants” because she is growing more teeth and being a bit temperamental this morning — and found a long strip of pink tulle.
Immi is emptying out her purse on to the stool.

Immi loves purses and bags. She likes to put assortment of objects into them and carry them around. I suppose that would be the purpose of a purse/bag…
Immi started to say “hi!” quite regularly this weekend. Sometimes she waves when she says “hi!” and sometimes she doesn’t. But it always sounds like there’s one or two “!”.
Earlier today when I gave her a piece of banana, immi said “nana!!” (I didn’t even say “banana” when I gave it to her). And at dinner when I said “Would you like some cheese?”, Immi said “cheese!!”. She also said “kittykitty!” when she saw Miss Monroe. So maybe she is starting to talk, or it could just be today. We’ll see: )
Immi seems to know when people are about to leave (because they gather up their stuff, stand up etc. perhaps?). She starts to wave good-bye even if they aren’t even at the door yet. She is also the first one to laugh when someone says a joke (i don’t know how she knows that it was funny…).
Immi is sleeping in this morning. When we got home late last night after a long drive, she was very excited to see all of her kitties.
We found a local breakfast place called Toast Cafe. We got a table outside (under the tent) since the wait-list was quite long for the table inside due to unseasonably chilly and drizzly weather. Immi is bundled up a bit.

Immi fell a sleep after brunch back at mike&mary’s.
We are about to drive back to Reston. But not before taking some pictures with mike and mary! Immi is still sleeping on her dad’s lap.
We are visiting our friends mike&mary in charlotte NC this weekend. Immi got cranky during the 6 hour drive last night and screamed for about an hour (about 3 hours in) before she finally fell a sleep.

We are at the Block Party with mike&mary’s neighbors having burgers and hotdogs. Mary’s little sister Julie is playing with immi.
Immi is having so much fun outside that she doesn’t want to go back inside at all.
Todd found for me a cute little teahouse called The Tea House. Mike, Mary, Mary’s brother, Todd, Immi and I are having tea and treats. I ordered small pink frosted teapot shaped sugar-cookie but as soon as it came, Immi decided that it was her’s and devoured the whole thing (Don’t worry, I got a tiny red-velvet cupcake for myself when I gave up my cookie).
Immi spent the rest of the evening cheerfully running around (powered by sugar, i’m sure) with Mary’s collection of Smurfs and Care Bear figurines and rearranging them on the coffee table.
Immi figured out how to open the 4 lock (and they are quite stiff!) plastic container and having some pizzelles. She crumbled all of them while at it.
