halloween

October 31st, 2008 | By Kyoko

It’s immi’s second halloween today! Immi-Roo went to work with her dad for lunch time.

“Rooz Allen Hamilton. This is Immi-Roo Speaking!”

Rummaging her dad’s office desk drawers…

Immi and I went to the shopping mall to watch Trick-or-Treaters. (Various stores are giving out candy!). Here’s Immi-Roo strapped into her stroller.

Trick-orTreating at the grandparents’.

Immi’s dad ate the candy. Immi-Roo is licking what’s left of it on the wrapper…

Immi and I are waiting for Trick-or-Treaters. I’m a faery…of garden variety.

Immi is handing out candies at the door!

Now we are at Immi’s grandmom’s. Immi-Roo is having dinner (apple sauce, avocado roll, milk).

Immi-Roo had a long and exciting day. She is very very tired and resting on the couch.

Immi’s grandmom wanted to bring immi to work today. So we took her around to meet people in her Halloween costume :)

Here is the preview of her outfit:

And guess what? I got a learner’s permit for driving today! Yay!! …now i gotta actaully practice driving :(

Immi and her grandmom took me to DMV for the test. And we found out for sure (we were suspecting!) that Immi is a little flirt! She really liked the shy little boy (little to me, much older for Immi, maybe 3 or 4?) who was there waiting with his mom. Immi wanted to share her book with him and have a chat. By the end, the little boy warmed up to her too.

Immi is sweeping!

…and then making a big mess.

Immi’s grandmom and I made popcorn balls (it’s a halloween tradition, todd got one every year growing up) while Immi and her dad cleaned the kitty litter box and vacuumed back at home (I definitely got the better end of the deal don’t you think?). We’ve finished making them and they came over to have some treats.

I forgot to mention yesterday, Immi said “duck” while putting the duck puzzle piece into the correct spot and then said “spaghetti” when we were having some for dinner, and then “What’s this?” as she held out a plastic toy banana.

…i haven’t heard her say any words today though.

evening

October 27th, 2008 | By Kyoko

We are spending time at immi’s grandmom’s. Immi is having some apple sauce with the halloween gosties.

Immi and Mr. Darcy are doodling. They look like they are behaving, but just until now, they were jostling over a purple crayon. Even though immi is a person and Mr. Darcy is a cat, they play together really well (it probably helps that immi is a bit like a kitten and Mr. Darcy thinks that he is a person).

organizing

October 27th, 2008 | By Kyoko

Immi found a new storage solution for her necklaces. I think that her Auntie Junko will find this entertaining since she was just telling me how she was looking for a way to organize her earrings.

Immi dressing up. I wonder where she is going?

weekend

Jordan is visiting us from C’ville this weekend. We are getting coffee and immi is lounging on a daddy-chair.

…We had a very nice relaxing weekend but somehow this is the only photo I seem to have taken…

stool

Now that Immi figured out that she can reach more stuff if she brought over a stool and stood on it, she spends large portion of her day standing on something and grabbing anything she can.

Immi is spending time with her ponies. The clear organizer has a lot of tiny accessories that she can play with only when i’m watching. She seems to enjoy putting everything back where they belong when she is done playing.

Immi’s dad came back home last night. Immi was so excited to have him home that she spent entire several minutes hugging him. We are getting phở since we’ve recently decided we like getting phở almost as much as we enjoy getting coffee. Besides, Immi loves it!

We went to a dollar store next to the phở restaurant to get a balloon. We forgot all about the balloon but we walked out of the store with a princess kit. I think that it’s really nice you can become a princess for just a $1+tax if you are an immi. Here is the grumpy princess.

Immi climbs onto a stool often when we are in the kitchen. Here’s immi rummaging the napkin drawer.

nesting

October 21st, 2008 | By Kyoko

When immi gets sleepy, she gets blankets, pillows and her friends out of her crib and makes a little nest where ever she feels like. Sometimes she falls a sleep, and other times she doesn’t. She does also occasionally climb into her crib and take a nap there too.

monday

October 20th, 2008 | By Kyoko

Immi is rummaging through and playing with MY box of musical noise making things. Her favorite in the box is the Chinese chiming balls (those are my favorite too!). The two balls makes slightly different sound and immi is listening in intently…

Immi and her Not-So-Big-Giraffe. I’m quite sure it was a lot bigger just yesterday…

Here is immi studying Virginia Driver’s Manual. Well, I was studying it and immi was reading her ABC book but she decided mine looked more fun.

Today is immi’s Obaachan (my mom in Japan!)’s birthday! We are wishing you happy birthday from across the ocean!!

And Todd is in Detroit again. We miss you!!

wedding

October 19th, 2008 | By Kyoko

It’s Sophia and Mustujab’s wedding day today! Immi sat through quite a bit of the long-ish (to accommodate various cultural aspects they represent!) ceremony quietly (despite that she is a teething monster!). When she got a little fidgety I handed her PEZ in the Chococat dispenser which kept her quietly busy (though she did occasionally meow at it very softly…) for a while. But then she decided that she wanted to share her PEZ with everyone, so Immi and I left the hall while they finished up (We had gotten to see all the good parts anyways!).

Here we are waiting outside.

…and walking back to the car. It’s a little cold outside today!

friday

October 17th, 2008 | By Kyoko

Immi figured out how to use step-stools (in this case a big puffy pillow) to reach things out of reach. She can also open the dvd slot, load it correctly and with some trial and error (can’t read the tiny descriptions above the buttons yet) get it to play all by herself.

Immi’s dad is home from the trip! And he got for her a purse at a fancy kitty boutique at the airport. He must have read my mind because I was just thinking that immi could use a brown purse (she already has a black one) since about half of her wardrobe goes better with brown (unlike mine, I don’t really need any brown purse since I don’t even have any brown shoes).

thursday

October 16th, 2008 | By Kyoko

Immi is doing stickers as usual. She doesn’t seem to get bored of them. Luckily (for me!) she almost never sticks them on anything other than her notebook or herself.

Immi and I got back from immi-shopping with immi’s grandmom. We went looking for a dress but came home with a whole lot more. …And I thought immi was going to take a nap, but she seems to have forgotten about being tired and happily playing with her first set of normal size My Little Ponies that her grandmom got her. (She is putting tiara on the unicorn.)

Lately, Immi enjoys spilling a bit of water in her cup on purpose, grabbing a towel from the kitchen and wiping it clean. The main problem I have with this is that, most often, she throws the towel (not disposable!) in the trash bin and not in the laundry basket…

Immi is playing with her ponies of the Ponyville. Oskar is hanging out nearby and watching.

…because you know, they are best-friends.

Here is a video of our walk today. Immi is picking up acorns and branches. I’ve never seen her show interest in fallen branches before — I’m thinking that she is playing Harry Potter (we were watching the DVD last night).

Todd is in Detroit this week, so I’m trying to post often since I’m sure he misses us:)

fever

October 14th, 2008 | By Kyoko

Immi had a bit of fever (I figured she was just teething) and spent most of the day sitting, laying down or sleeping. Her fever got worse later in the evening (then I thought maybe she caught some virus?) so I gave her some Moltrin and in less than an hour: ta-da!! — a happy immi!

When I catch immi chewing on something that I think she shouldn’t be eating, I put out my hand and ask her to spit it out. Usually, she shakes her head profusely in denial and then spit it out (quite often it’s a piece of paper…). This evening when I stuck my hand out in front of her, she grinned — instead of denying! — and spat out into my palm a huge blob of pulverized carrot stick!

x-ray

October 13th, 2008 | By Kyoko

Todd had a bike accident last week and is finally having the chance to get his shin x-rayed at the radiology office in DC to make sure it’s not fractured. Immi and I tagged along for good luck (…and for bubble tea at Teaism!!). We found a quiet corner at the end of the hallway to have some snack. Here is immi sitting on the windowsill and having her celery sticks.

When she was done with her bag of celeries, she walked all the way across the room to throw it in the trash bin!

…and we found out Todd’s leg isn’t broken:)

After we went grocery shopping, Immi helped me unpack. She took things out of the grocery bag one item at a time and handed it to me if they where fruits, veggies, or other cold stuff to be put in the fridge, and she put all the dry food on the counter (she can just about reach it on her tiptoes).

lazy sunday

October 12th, 2008 | By Kyoko

Immi is gardening with her dad.

Feeding Mr. Oskar some fresh catnip. Miss Monroe wants some too, but Immi is busy with Oskar. (Immi seems to be developing ‘favorites’ these days: black plaid skirt, pink jelly shoes, MyLittlePony named CherryBlossom…).

Fell a sleep watching Dr. Seuss DVD.

Immi found a keyhole while walking around wearing Auntie Junko’s shoes (she is visiting this weekend!) and she is trying out her key.
