dinner napkins

I’m making dinner and immi is making a mess.
Archive for November, 2008
We are at immi’s grandmom’s. She is doing tea as usual.
Immi, her grandmom and Auntie Junko are frosting sugar cookies and decorating them with sprinkles (I’m staying out of the kitchen to keep germs out!). Immi discovered that she LOVES sprinkles! She is sitting on the stool picking sprinkles off the frosted cookie and eating them.
Auntie Junko is visiting us for the four day holiday weekend. And We are making play-doh pizza! Auntie Junko and I used the molds to make pizza toppings (broccoli, mushrooms, peppers, tomatoes, anchovies…!!) and immi is decorating her pizza (the pizza making kit came with more pizza-like colored dohs but I haven’t opened them yet). When she is done, she is going to slice it with the plastic pizza wheel.
I’ve been feeling not too well and I’ve finally decided to visit the doctor. After too many negative experiences with more doctors, our new doctor’s office is in DC. I’m waiting at the office and immi is walking with her dad, just around the corner, to get coffee.
It’s cold and windy today!
Here’s immi sitting at Starbucks.
What’s immi doing?
Building magical land of immiville where ponies and hello-kitties and faeries live happily ever after!
…i find it interesting that immi now builds and plays with an entire village instead of playing with individual buildings one at a time.
I had the last of the 5 hour driving lesson today so Immi was at her grandmoms for a bit. She came home with a bow in her hair and matching mittens! She seems to like the bow and has been keeping it on for past several hours. She is eating lunch now.

I’m making dinner and Immi is playing with play-doh.
If you wondered, I don’t bake cookies on the silver baking trey immi is playing on (…so don’t worry!). This one is just for immi to do various activities on (play-doh, beads, ponyville…) to make clean-up a lot easier:)
I was beginning to think that immi was bored of doing stickers. But, as it turns out, she was just bored of the ones I was giving her ($1 booklets of 500 stickers, we’ve had 3 different ones). She spotted a sheet of Hello Kitty stickers I was hiding and this is what she did with them:
It’s been really cold out lately! Here is immi bundled up. Immi’s Obaachan got her the jacket last year and it’s almost not too big at all. It just looks big because it’s a bit off her shoulders at the moment.
Todd and I were thinking that, since Immi has been a teething monster and not likely to sit still for that long (though definitely nothing as bad as her first year molars!), we thought it might be fun to try out At Play Cafe which we had been meaning to go to since it opened months ago. They have coffee, healthy treats, free WiFi, and a play area ($8) that is supervised by a staff.
Immi is having so much fun! She is unloading the grocery cart in the kitchen.
Immi loves to climb up (…and down with help, and then up again, and then down…) onto the second level of the play building.
They have another gym room that is open (unsupervised by staff) unless there is a event going on. Immi loved this room too. She is scooting around on a quadcycle and bouncing balls.
I’m not feeling that great due to allergy (mold from the leaves outside?) and I’ve slacked on helping Immi pick up after her mess on minutely basis just for couple of hours and it became a disaster very quickly! For some reason, Immi is shuttling her things between rooms today (despite that they are meant to stay in specified rooms for my specific reasons) which really didn’t help.
Crayons are now scattered in the bedroom.

Faeries now live in the kitchen next to the cat water bowl.
Immi’s bedding is in the studio next to the pile of her dress-up things.
Immi transported a lot of items from room to room, one or two at a time, by scooting on this airplane (no, it’s not meant for riding…)
…and making more mess playing with her ponies…
It’s rainy today and we were all feeling a bit blegh. So we headed out to a coffee shop (Greenberry’s) with a laptop hoping to get something done. …and Immi got a free cookie for being cute, again (2 days in a row!). Here she is enjoying it.
…and then playing with her pony.
But unfortunately, Immi seems to be suffering Short-Attention-Span today due to her 2nd year molars coming in so we didn’t stay around for long.
We headed out to ToysRus for diapers and more immi proofing gadgets. Here’s immi playing with display model of the princess kitchen set (…don’t princesses not cook?). I think that it’s too expensive, too big, and too un-environmental but it’s free to play at the store and Immi loves toys.
We missed Auntie Junko (she hasn’t been able to come stay with us in Reston since she is so busy!) so we made a very impromptu trip to DC to see her. We are at Teaism, of course. Todd and I are having bubble tea and Junko is having chai tea. Immi got a free cookie (a very tasty looking handmade shortbread!) for being cute!
Immi found a light switch that she can reach without any help!
Immi has gotten very good at climbing up the stairs. She has a flexible and grippy soled boots, but I’m still a bit worried and read to run up and catch her if she looks even a bit wobbly.
Immi can’t go down the stairs very well yet unless there is a rail she can grab with one hand and someone is holding her other hand. …so had to run up the stairs to grab her and carry her down. She didn’t like this at all.
It’s quite late at night but Todd needed a book for his work so we are at Barnes & Noble. Immi loves the children’s book section because they have the big train set and many benches around it. This area is most often crowded with older and quite rude boys during the day (immi seems to be very selective about whom she flirts with, and I’m happy to say that she doesn’t care for rude ones!) but no one is here right now! Immi is very happy to be playing with the trains and sitting on all the benches one after another.
It’s been a sad several weeks for our family, first with my maternal grandfather passing on, and then Todd’s cousin-in-law (I never had a chance to meet them but I thought of his new little family often because they had a daughter very shortly after Immi was born), and then this past weekend, my paternal grandmother in Japan (who had been staying at the hospital for some time) passed away.
…so I gave Immi her Christmas gift quite a bit early the other day. It’s called Teapot Palace and is part of her little pony village. Because honestly, a magical place where “Sparkleworks pony turns teatime into the ultimate dance party” sounds like a really nice place to be right now. This toy is the bestest find in my bargain shopping history, ever:) Immi loves it of course (which is an endless entertainment for me!). Besides, I’m sure she’ll be spoiled silly for Christmas without our help.
Immi came home with a baby doll when she went to play at her grandmom’s house while I was having driving lesson (I’m on the road!…going a lot faster than 0.3 mph!) yesterday. Immi is putting the baby to sleep now. Just a moment before, she was making it walk (jumping it up and down the same way her ponies ‘walk’) and then feeding it some pretz. I decided not to mention for now that the baby is probably too young for walking or solid food…
We are watching Kung Fu Panda and Immi is eating carrots — an entire bag of carrots. I tried to give her few pieces in her bowl, but she didn’t want any of that. The carrots on the floor are the ones she ‘finished’ eating. Oskar is trying to decide if he wants any left over carrots.
Immi does occasionally (maybe about 1 in 7?) eat the entire stick of carrots. I don’t know how she decides which one is the lucky one.
This time, I’m just going to pick up the carrots off the floor, wash them, and cut the bitten ends off. Hopefully Immi won’t know the difference.
Here we are at Janna’s post-halloween-costume-party. It’s very nice Immi gets to wear her roo outfit one more time since it will definitely be too small next year.
Immi’s dad is a Mr. Nintendo.
People kept asking immi to hop! …and to my surprize, she wanted to practice (I didn’t even know she knew the word ‘hop’!)! Immi is grabbing on to my hand and jumping. She can definitely jump, but she is practicing landing on her two feet.
We are at Starbucks having coffee. One of these days we might get to an amusement park or something but for now this is what we do for fun
Immi is having a bagel.
Saturday is usually an errand day. We are at PetSmart for some kitty supplies. Immi actually hasn’t ever been to a petshop before since we usually get cat stuff at Target. Anyway, here’s immi and chinchilla.
Now we are at BabiesRus/ToysRus to return an oven safety latch (fell off the first time I used the oven!) and also to get a gadget to anti-immify our trashcan. They had neither of these items at this branch but we are having fun playing with huge stuffed animals.
Every day with immi is very different but it went like this today:
Immi is starting her day playing dress-up.
It’s lunch time now and she is sitting at her desk (I suppose this is fair since I sit at my desk for lunch most of the days) having pasta. She won’t sit in her high chair anymore.
Immi is rummaging the kitchen cabinet and playing with mixing bowls and silicone steamer.
Quite often when I open the refrigerator, immi peers into it and usually finds something she wants. This time she found a bag of bean-sprouts! …and now she is — very happily! — having some.
I even got a video of immi eating sprouts.
And then, we went to the grocery store where immi had lots of fun with her dad. When we came home, she played with her Ponies and their Ponyville. And now, she is watching Doraemon and walking around in my shoes.
