If there is one thing on earth that an Immi loves it is splashing and making lots of bubbles in the bath.

Immi is wearing her dad’s beanie and wrist cuff.

And she really really wants to play my sparkly pink bass!

How can I say ‘no’ when she looks at me like that? …so I got it off the rack for her to play.

leesburg

January 28th, 2009 | By Kyoko

Todd needed a break after working way too hard so we headed out to Leesburg for coffee. Our usual place was closed (due to bad weather?)! But we found another place which was definitely cozy enough.

leesburg

We stopped in the near by shop for some candles. Immi found a maraca and a hand drum and a cat. The kitty seems very curious about immi for some reason. We walked out without any candles since we were busy chasing immi around and then our parking meter ran out of time. Oh well.

comfy

January 27th, 2009 | By Kyoko

We moved this comfy chair into the office and it has become immi’s spot (and oskar’s). Immi definitely knows all about being comfy. I can’t help but to remember that she was like this since before she was born. In fact she hardly ever moved in-utero most part of the day and I remember feeling the impression that she wasn’t moving because she was comfy where she was (if I took what the doctor told me about how often I was suppose to be feeling kicks, I would have had to called to call them several times a day!)

comfy

I felt our baby no.2 move several days ago and then a lot more last night (a lot earlier than when I first felt immi move)! I can’t feel him/her kicking for sure, but I can definitely feel it when s/he rolls over if I happen to be laying down (and my stomach area is streched out) after having waffles drizzled with lots of maple syrup (hmmm, sugar!).

sushi

We wanted phở. We drove down to Herndon to our usual place and found it closed due to Vietnamese New Year! We told immi “we are getting phở!!” and she was so excited about it that when we got back in the car without having gotten the noodle soup, she was really mad!

…so we got sushi in stead. Immi loves miso soup. The waitress was so taken by how much she obviously loves miso soup that she gave us extra tofu to put in her soup! She also had some avocado rolls.

Happy New Year! We still want phở… (You know, when I say we I don’t just mean me and myself. My cravings rubs off on Todd and he genuinly wants phở as much as I do!)

…”quack quack” when she was playing with her duck in the bath tub.

And then she pointed at the photo of herself at the beach and said “me!!”

And then when her dad was having crostini and hummus, she did the ‘want’ gesture and said “CRACKER!”. I thought it funny that she knows the word cracker (even though we often have crostini and rarely other kinds of crackers…) and decided that the crostini is a kind of cracker.

We came into DC to see Auntie Junko and then later for surprise dinner party for Alexis’ b-day. We are now at Teaism having tea and yummy treats. Here’s immi eating her crunchies and hanging out with her aunt.

one moment

January 24th, 2009 | By Kyoko

Immi is pretend-shopping. She got her jacket and boots on and her purse and her doggie. (You might find it entertaining to know that she isn’t wearing pants or skirt under her jacket!). She is doing the ‘one moment’ finger gesture at me which I use with her a lot lately when I’m leaving the room but will be back shortly, or when she wants something but I need her to give me a moment to make it happen. She understands this quite well and waits patiently most of the time. onemoment

…but when she is cranky, ‘one moment’ makes her really upset and she’ll immitate my finger gesture (and adds drama to it by waving her finger around) while screaming as if to say “don’t one-moment me!!!”. I can’t wait till she really starts talking :)

no. 2

January 23rd, 2009 | By Kyoko

I’m now 13 weeks along now and today is the first day of 2nd trimester. Immi’s little sibling is now, according to a book, more or less fully formed and can “hear” through vibrations on the skin. Nothing new to report about him/her really. I still want phở often except sometimes I really want potato soup.

Todd got us roses, he says the that red one is for me and the white one is for the baby. They are pretty and smell nice. I hope oskar won’t eat it.

baby doggie

Only thing Immi wanted to wear when I took off her soggy sticky clothes (she spilled my juice on herself when she tried to drink it stealthily) was her fuzzy white fleecy jacket (it’s from last year and it’s still much too wide, but have gotten too short!). She wanted me to help her zip up her doggie in her jacket with her. I think she got the idea to do this from when her dad wraps her up in his jacket when we go outside and it’s really really cold out. Immi liked having her doggie close to her so much that she kept him in her jacket for a long while and didn’t want me to take him out even for a celery snack.

book

I happened by a book that features immi’s favorite doggie about Valentine’s day. Immi was sooooo excited when she saw the book, I think that she recognized her familiar puppy dog!

When Barack Obama officially became our 44th President, Immi clapped her hands (she always does when other people are cheering).

letter “C”

January 19th, 2009 | By Kyoko

Immi has been wearing the letter “C” of her alphabet puzzle mat on her head. I’m not sure what she thinks it is, a tiara? She is checking herself out in the mirror.

headthing

Immi is going to be turning 2  years-old in just 3 weeks! She must be getting suddently bigger lately because she is growing out of many of her clothes (some of which she has been wearing for 1.5+ years!).

Immi likes to share her food and it does not matter where or what with.

She even has an immi-kisses-for-food exchange program. If you have soemthing she wants, she will come up to you and give you kisses.  Then if you don’t give her what she wants she gets very very grumpy!!!

January 18th, 2009 | By Kyoko

“I like!!!”

…while pointing at Hello Kitty on my PJ. I’m glad she likes Hello Kitty since she has accumulated some HK things. And Todd and I joked a long time ago that the first thing she’d say would be “I hate Hello Kitty!”.

She has also been saying “up! up!!” every time she takes a step up on the stairs.

She absolutely LOVES the multi-color light in the living room (when we moved the living room to my former studio room, we simply didn’t need very bright overhead lights so Todd put in those fun ones).

lights

When it gets dark, immi wants these lights on and points at them, and then at the switch for them on the wall. When we turn them on, she points and says “light!!” and giggles happily.

Here is a short sonogram video clip of Immi’s sibling side-kick to be.  It won’t be long now before Immi is a big sister, kind of crazy because she is so tiny!

What on earth is Immi doing lounging on the floor in Starbucks? Silly little kitten what are you doing?

saturday

January 17th, 2009 | By Kyoko

We are having coffee at Starbucks (Todd’s having soy caramel macchiato and I’m having black tea latte) with Jordan and Emily who are in town just for little bit from Charlottesville today. Immi is moving around the wet floor sign (don’t worry, the floor is already dried).

saturday

It’s about immi’s nap time and she is tired. She decided to just lay down on the floor.

saturday2

We stopped by Michaels craft supply store. They didn’t have what we were looking for but immi is having fun shopping (we spend quite some effort putting those items back where they belong since wee weren’t going to buy them…).

saturday3

Immi seems to think that bed time begins with reading time. She likes to get cozy with blankets and pillows and read piles of books. Here she is reading fairy princess counting book.

saturday5

…and then a robot book.

snickers bar aquatic feline surprise

January 16th, 2009 | By Todd

I am still in dis-belief  by the startling and mysterious events of this evening.  Sitting in the next room, I heard Kyoko parroting in varying tones of utter curiosity:

“What is that?!? What isssss that??? Toddd! What is thaaaat?”

As I rounded the corner to the kitchen, kyoko stood near the gate cautiously pointing and peering down at the cats lonesome water bowl…something very strange was floating in the kittie water.  A brown anomaly.  I slowly quickly connected the dots:

missing diaper

+

cat’s water bowl

+

snickers bar

=

???????

Time for a little word association to aid in the detection process -

When I say water bowl, you say…Toilet!!!

Conclusion –

Immi left a floater in the cats’ water bowl.  Mystery solved, case closed.

Political Ramifications -

Geo-fecal submarine and international maritime lines have been crossed.  A aquatic feline war has been declared.  Mew battles have begun.  Code brown weapons have been deployed in the immediate vicinity.  The kitty water supply has been intentionally contaminated.  New meaning has come to the phrase “don’t drink the water.”

And somehow I landed decontamination duty. This is definitely getting classified under “development” and “milestones!”
