We are at the eye doctor place to make some complaints about the new glasses I just got (too long and boring of a story to post here! Though I’ll tell you we are never coming back to this place!). Immi got really cranky so immi and I walked next door to get a smoothie while Todd sort it out.

Here’s immi singing along to her favorite song while waiting in the car.

garden + good news

June 29th, 2009 | By Kyoko

Immi and her daddy are out on the balcony looking at all the veggies and herbs that are getting really big!

Immi is playing with the wind chimes and she is singing along.

We had the sonogram appointment today. The baby is 6 lb 2 oz now. Which sounds really big to me! Anyway, even better news is that the dilation in his bowel is completely gone! We won’t have to have sonogram appointments anymore, just that the baby will have to have his stomach thoroughly examined when he is born. I have an appointment with my OB tomorrow, we’ll see what he says.

Auntie Junko offered to help around the house and help we took:) She spend good portion of the afternoon helping me scrub the floor and bathroom (thank you!!). And here she is all done and playing with immi. Everytime immi is lifted up by her hands, she does this:

phở

June 26th, 2009 | By Kyoko

It’s auntie Junko’s birthday (on monday) and we missed celebrating father’s day last weekend (we are always a week behind with every holiday these days!) and both Todd and Junko (and me too!) wanted phở so that’s what we are having. They look like they are having a serious conversation don’t they?

…and immi is engaged in her usual activity.

thursday

June 25th, 2009 | By Kyoko

Today is the last day Todd’s away (he is coming back sometime past midnight) and we are having pajama day:)

This is the amount of stuff immi carried from the living room to her room (the two purses have both been stuffed with all the little items prior to the departure) just to get her diaper changed. I find that I need to give her a 10 minute warning before I can get her to go anywhere…

stuff

Immi and her pink cat are playing with dominoes — she enjoys taking them out and putting them back in the box.

dominoes

I dreamt that (dreaming often is supposedly a pregnancy side effect, and I have been dreaming often lately in my sleep) that I was pregnant and that immi speaks Japanese. I woke up to find that I am pregnant and immi does actually speak Japanese. Normal dreams are the strangest ones! I’m telling you this just to preface that immi said an entire phrase is japanese:

“Aaah-ah. O-i-shi-ka-tta!”

She said this after she *finished* eating her lunch, and it means “Hmmm!. That WAS tasty!” She used the past tense correctly…! And this is interesting to me also because the first thing she said in english was “Hmmmm. It’s so yummy!”. I’m glad she thinks that food is good (I would never know from how little she eats!).

ball

June 24th, 2009 | By Kyoko

We are taking a short walk outside. It’s definitely a bit hot. Immi found a ball someone neglected near the playground.

ball

She likes the ball so much that she isn’t even willing to throw it to me!

Since Todd is still away, immi and I are watering our garden. The first of many many tomatoes that started growing is turning red! There’s lots of strawberries too.

legos and lollipop

June 23rd, 2009 | By Kyoko

We are playing with legos this evening. These days immi seems obsessed with stacking things in a *neat* pile (even with things that doesn’t naturally stack neatly like legos…).

legos

The No.2 and I had appintment with our OB today. He said that every thing looks good and that the sonogram result is a good news. I even measured normal and not too small this week. The doctor said that I’m a PERFECT patient:) I’m at 35 weeks today, so I have just a bit over month left till the due date. And here’s immi enjoying her biweekly lollipop from the appointment (It’s after dinner and she remembered about the lollipop in her purse). Somehow I don’t think that it’s very ‘kid-like’ to stash her candy in purse for later…

lolly

Oh, and immi’s grandmom got her little brother a lot of cute clothes last week! He has a wardrobe now:D (thank you!!!) She even got immi many dresses and sparkly pink shoes which immi seems to adore. Anyway, now I feel good knowing he won’t have to be naked. We just need few more things, lots and lots of organizing, and bunch of paper work and we’ll be ready…

noodle soup

June 23rd, 2009 | By Kyoko

Todd left for a business trip in Denver today. He is at Peaceful Valley Ranch getting certified in Change Management. He’ll be home late at night on Thursday and so immi and I are planning on enjoying the last of the girlie-nights in the foreseeable future:)

We made noodle soup for dinner (we had big-ish lunch of chicken and rice). …and some ice cream for dessert.

saturday

June 20th, 2009 | By Kyoko

We are spending our Saturday at MyEyeDr. We scheduled an anuual check-up (…ok, it’s been 2 years for me since last one.). Immi is making a mess on the floor. I would have stopped her from taking up so much space but we’ve been here for about TWO HOURS, and she is being quiet and not really in anyone’s way so…

Immi is stuffing her shoes with toys at the moment.

eyedr

And then we had to wait for another 30 minutes, so we walked over to Best Buy (which is a store we almost never go to) to walk around for a bit. …and when did they start selling musical instruments?? Immi wanted to play drums!

We finally took immi swimming!

I’m not exactly sure why I thought she might get scared. She probably thinks that it’s like a really big bath tub.

lollipop and no.2

June 15th, 2009 | By Kyoko

We had another sonogram appointment today. And guess what? The dilated portion of the baby’s bowel is shrinking! The doctor said that it’s only half the size compared to 2 weeks ago. …so *hopefully* it’ll keep shrinking and that it won’t be a problem. Otherwise, everything is as usual, he is still a boy:| And the really good news is that I only have to go back every 2 weeks instead of every week.

Only bit of these appointments that immi enjoys is the bit where she gets a candy. She is still chewing on the teeny bit left on the stick.

lollipop

…and with all these sonogram appointments, we’ve accumulated a huge number of printouts. Quality of the images vary even though they are scans from very very good equipment because they spend most of the time looking at his stomach area. But if the technician is nice, I do get to see his face quite clearly in 3D sometimes.

saturday

June 13th, 2009 | By Kyoko

Todd has an appointment with opthamologist and immi and I are playing at Barnes and Noble book store. Immi loves the train set here. …but as you can see, she isn’t willing to let go of her purse to play with them.

trains

When she had enough fun with the trains, she walked around and found a Hello Kitty backpack! Immi got her off the shelf and sat the Hello Kitty on the kid-sized lawn chair nearby, and then sat in the chair next to her. They are just having a little chat. And when she was done chatting, immi put her back where she found her.

lawnchair

We are celebrating Todd’s birthday a week late with Chinese food! Immi is really enjoying her eggdrop soup!

eggdropsoup

Our friends Mike & Mary just had a baby boy last night. Congratulation!!! His name is Killian. And he is a super cutie.

…Which reminds me that our day is nearing too. We looked for some clothes and sleepwear for our little boy today, but couldn’t find anything:( It’s difficult to find baby boy clothes that’s not sports-themed (we really aren’t into sports…), doesn’t have stupid looking monkey on it (why do so many boy thing have monkey on them? …and Todd doesn’t like it) or navy blue in color (I HATE NAVY BLUE! I don’t even know why!).

I think that immi and her little brother are starting to get to know each other already. Immi likes to pet my belly and give him kisses sometimes. When Immi gets upset and shrieks, it seems to startle him and he jumps (…as much as anyone can in such a tight space!).

Oh, and Immi said a new Japanese word! She offered me a cracker and said “Do-u-zo!”. Which doesn’t translate very well, but roughly “please” or “by all means”. It’s something you say when you offer something (i.e. a gift) to someone.

appointment

June 10th, 2009 | By Kyoko

We had a now bi-monthly appointment check-up with our OB. Immi and her dad sitting and waiting for the doctor to come in.

appointment

Everything is well, I gained 3lb in 2 weeks, and the baby has good heart rate. THe doctor measured Fundal Height and to my surprise I measured small! I measured small with immi so there’s no need for alarm here (besides, the baby is monitored closely at sonogram appointments…), but I was sure I was much bigger this time around. Sonogram measurements are supposedly a lot more accurate than the tape measurement, but the doctor said that according to a research, mom’s intuitions measures closer to the actual birthweight than anything else (isn’t that interesting??)

Immi’s dad took took this photo when they went out for a walk. He says that immi really liked the water fountain.

hkwalk

This is about the average amount of STUFF that immi carries around from room to room. When I called her in for bed-time, it took her 10 minutes or so to pack up her things to bring everything to the bedroom!

These little items get transported in her purse but she’ll lay them all out once she reaches her destination.

almost summer

June 8th, 2009 | By Kyoko

It’s not quite summer yet by the calendar, but it feels like summer already. We are out for a short walk before noon since we’ve been having thunder storms in the afternoon these days. When we walked out the door, immi said “hot!!” (which is a word she says often, but I haven’t heard her use it to refer to the weather!).

summer

She seems to be practicing walking on a balance beam! She can walk quite fast on it like this.

Immi’s new Japanese word is “kore!”, which means…”this”. When she wanted soy milk in the fridge, she pointed and said “this!! this!!! …kore!!!!”. It totally made me laugh.

sunday

June 7th, 2009 | By Kyoko

Immi had a successful sleepover at her grandparents last night for the first time, though she has done this very well several times at her grandmom’s already. It makes me feel better that she’ll be fine for when we have to leave her for a bit when her little brother is to be born since kids aren’t allowed in hospital rooms after hours and we don’t know what time he’ll be coming around!

…anyway we are having an ordinary sunday. Immi’s dad should be coming home from camping this evening. The entire weekend passed by quite quickly for some reason. I think that immi misses her daddy —  she wanted me to call him, and I had to tell her that phone doesn’t work where he is in the mountains.

camping

June 4th, 2009 | By Kyoko

Immi’s daddy went camping, that is. It’s his birthday today actually (we are postponing celebrating it the weekend after this one). It’s been a long time since he’s gone for a real camping with tents and bugs and bears and stuff (…and not the one with cute little log cabin in the meadow) so he is off to Charlottesville to meet up with his friend Jordan, and off they go somewhere in the wilderness:)

…And Immi and I are having a quiet Thursday evening. I was actually working on lots of stuff while immi played quietly with her little ponies and tiny friends for about TWO AND A HALF HOURS! …And as much as I enjoyed getting things done and having uninterrupted  time to myself, I kinda felt guilty. So I got out the box of blocks and took it to the bedroom so we can play together. But by the time I got back to her and the blocks from tidying up a few things, she was already absorbed in her activity and really didn’t need my help.

bristleblocks

…in fact she seems to know exactly what she is doing.

bristleblocks2

And then after that, Immi redecorated my chair for me. I don’t want her sticking stickers on random stuff, but I decided she can do my chair, it’s easy to clean it and besides, I’m bored of the way it looks from having had it for a loooong time.

stickerchair

Todd, we hope you are having fun! …and that you won’t get too soggy from all that rain:) …and Happy Birthday!

I went to change immi’s diaper because she pointed out that it needed to be changed and it was indeed a bit bulky. …and this is what I found inside!

Yes, it is a used a diaper. With a whole bunch of little toys stuffed in it.
