winter holiday!

December 24th, 2009 | By Kyoko

Immi and I are decorating gingerbread cookies (I got inspired by my friend who was building the most amazing gingerbread house. Hi Allie!! I didn’t bake these though, and they are person shaped because they were sold out of gingerbread house kits…). Immi is not much help, she just wants to eat the cookies.

Here Immi looks like she is being a perfect little holiday cheers (photo deception!), but actually just picking off frosty candies off the cookies as I try to replace them as fast as I can :|

Immi drivig the WholeFoods bus. She was having so much fun at the grocery store that for the first time, she got mad when had to leave!

I just left the table for half a minute, and when I came back, Immi had gotten up on the chair, grabbed a banana, managed to peel it by herself, and was eating it!

faery

September 21st, 2009 | By Kyoko

Immi is being a faery.

faery

She’s been playing telephone with her xylophone…which is strange because it doesn’t look anything like the phones we have (We haven’t had land-line in a long time. And we don’t know anyone who still uses a phone that’s not cordless…). I think that she must have picked this up from watching Doraemon — she even says “Moshi Moshi!” (that’s what you say in Japan when you answer the phone) into the ‘handset’.

Immi is being bad. She is smiling because she KNOWS she isn’t suppose to sit in the baby-swing! I scolded her but she won’t listen. She jumps off the swing every time I enter the room and smiles as if to say that she wasn’t doing anything bad. The funny thing is, one time I went into the room and she tried to jump off quickly, she couldn’t because she had buckled herself in!

chaos

August 25th, 2009 | By Kyoko

A month after immi’s brother was born… In the mornings and afternoon, everything is under control (for now anyhow). I have time to have a cup of coffee, clean up (it’s not perfect, mind you), do laundry, make lunch for todd, blog, and take on craft projects while taking care of and playing with immi & ashland and then twitter about all that. I’ve even be able to work on music some (granted, I’m only making verys slow progress!).

…and then comes 5 pm. Immi and Ashland both gets a little high-maintenance. And then by 7 pm our household is in complete CHAOS! It’s definitely a lot worse when Todd works later than 6pm, which is quite usual.  I used to be able handle immi being temperamental just fine by giving her undevided attention…which is now impossible if Ashland is cranky at the same time. When I leave Ashland upset for more than a minute, he becomes really really temperamental for next few hours!

Here’s immi having a meltdown in middle of the hallway. She had taken off her clothes and put on a pink tutu.

meltdown

And by 10:30 pm, they both calm down. Ashland usually just goes to sleep until I wake him up to feed him before I go to sleep, and immi returns to her usual self. In evitably, we’ll find somesort of solution to this (or get used to it anyhow!), but for now, chaos reigns between 7 pm – 10:30 pm :D

Immi still keeps squirrling away her brother’s toy. This time, she hid them in her pony bin.

And she isn’t the only one. Oskar keeps sneaking into Immi’s room and stealking her stuffed animals (he only likes certain ones). He think that they are his friends and carries them off to groom them.

baaad

We were trying to shop at Costco, but got discouraged at the parking lot by too many people/cars, pouring rain, and no parking space (what were we thinking going to Costco mid-afternoon on a Saturday??). …So we decided to have a snack at the Thai restaurant right across the street instead.

We told immi to get up off the floor and put her shoes back on but she thinks that we are just being funny.

chair

August 21st, 2009 | By Kyoko

We had to confiscate immi’s chair for the time being because she kept tipping it over on purpose and sitting on it’s side (and occasionally falling off of it because the chair isn’t balanced on it’s side). Here she is eating her breakfast standing up (so sad!).

But confiscating her chair had a really undesirable side effect (*sigh*). One is her sitting on her table:

…And the even worse one is dancing (with a fork in hand!) while eating:

Those toys on her table are immi’s old toys that I had gotten out for her little brother shortly after he was born since he had such a strong grip that I figured he can play with them already. Anyway, it seems that Immi doesn’t want to share these particular two toys with him — she keeps squirrling them away!

diaper

June 3rd, 2009 | By Kyoko

I went to change immi’s diaper because she pointed out that it needed to be changed and it was indeed a bit bulky. …and this is what I found inside!

Yes, it is a used a diaper. With a whole bunch of little toys stuffed in it.

Very tired immi fell a sleep in the living room.

Immi has been very good about sticking stickers on in her notebook or on herself and I’ have been trusting her with stickers, I guess a little too much. Look at what happened to my shelf of books!

climbing

January 2nd, 2009 | By Kyoko

When I came back into the living room, I found that immi had climbed into her highchair by herself (with the trey still securely in place!). Presumably, she dragged the chair near her table, then climbed in from the top of it (immi is a little ninja!). All this trouble just to get to the bear puzzle on the shelf which has been missing all the heads for months now…

mess

November 17th, 2008 | By Kyoko

I’m not feeling that great due to allergy (mold from the leaves outside?) and I’ve slacked on helping Immi pick up after her mess on minutely basis just for couple of hours and it became a disaster very quickly! For some reason, Immi is shuttling her things between rooms today (despite that they are meant to stay in specified rooms for my specific reasons) which really didn’t help.

Crayons are now scattered in the bedroom.

Faeries now live in the kitchen next to the cat water bowl.

Immi’s bedding is in the studio next to the pile of her dress-up things.

Immi transported a lot of items from room to room, one or two at a time, by scooting on this airplane (no, it’s not meant for riding…)

…and making more mess playing with her ponies…

Immi is sweeping!

…and then making a big mess.

Immi’s grandmom and I made popcorn balls (it’s a halloween tradition, todd got one every year growing up) while Immi and her dad cleaned the kitty litter box and vacuumed back at home (I definitely got the better end of the deal don’t you think?). We’ve finished making them and they came over to have some treats.

I forgot to mention yesterday, Immi said “duck” while putting the duck puzzle piece into the correct spot and then said “spaghetti” when we were having some for dinner, and then “What’s this?” as she held out a plastic toy banana.

…i haven’t heard her say any words today though.

stool

October 24th, 2008 | By Kyoko

Now that Immi figured out that she can reach more stuff if she brought over a stool and stood on it, she spends large portion of her day standing on something and grabbing anything she can.
