chaos

August 25th, 2009 | By Kyoko

A month after immi’s brother was born… In the mornings and afternoon, everything is under control (for now anyhow). I have time to have a cup of coffee, clean up (it’s not perfect, mind you), do laundry, make lunch for todd, blog, and take on craft projects while taking care of and playing with immi & ashland and then twitter about all that. I’ve even be able to work on music some (granted, I’m only making verys slow progress!).

…and then comes 5 pm. Immi and Ashland both gets a little high-maintenance. And then by 7 pm our household is in complete CHAOS! It’s definitely a lot worse when Todd works later than 6pm, which is quite usual.  I used to be able handle immi being temperamental just fine by giving her undevided attention…which is now impossible if Ashland is cranky at the same time. When I leave Ashland upset for more than a minute, he becomes really really temperamental for next few hours!

Here’s immi having a meltdown in middle of the hallway. She had taken off her clothes and put on a pink tutu.

And by 10:30 pm, they both calm down. Ashland usually just goes to sleep until I wake him up to feed him before I go to sleep, and immi returns to her usual self. In evitably, we’ll find somesort of solution to this (or get used to it anyhow!), but for now, chaos reigns between 7 pm – 10:30 pm :D

Immi is not pleased. I don’t know why, she was happy just a second ago — maybe because she is two? Her Hello Kitty shirt she got recently (from her Obaachan in Japan) happen to match the HK pillow my friend Aurie got for her!

exodus

April 3rd, 2009 | By Kyoko

Immi wants to take  the entire pony village and the tea set somewhere. But when I told her that she has to play with them in her room, she got really mad.

…as it turns out, she wanted them in the bedroom because that’s where the tub of tiny pony accessories are that I usuallty keep out of her reach. So we just brought that into her room and then she was perectly happy with the arrangement.

disaster!

October 11th, 2008 | By Kyoko

…of fashion variety. It’s past midnight and immi should really be sleeping but instead she wants to go out. She grabbed her favorite skirt out of the laundry basket (she wore it earlier in the day) and put it on over her polka-dotted brown onsie. She picked out a pair of shoes, grabbed a purse and she was ready to go. She brought me my shoes to wear too.

But she got really mad when I told her we weren’t going out because it’s really late.

I wasn’t just happily snapping pictures while immi was in serious distress. She is well enough to remember to take bites out of her vanilla waffers. …Besides, nothing I did was cheering her up anyways.

Such a little Drama Queen!

…in her defense, she can usually coordinate her outfit much better when she isn’t completely tired and malfunctioning…

grumpy!

September 17th, 2008 | By Kyoko

Immiblog is full of happy posts about immi’s outings because she really is happy when we go out. Well, not this evening!

Immi and I went to get some diapers and play for a bit at Toysrus in Fairfax while Todd spent some time with his friend from work who is leaving town permanently tomorrow. First of all, Immi didn’t want to sit in the shopping cart at all (I don’t blame her, it wasn’t a very nice cart). And then we found a whole aisle of Hello Kitty stuff. Immi doesn’t usually want all of everything, she is actually quite picky — this time what she wanted me to take off the shelf was (…and took me several tries, which increasingly frustrated immi) a metallic pink Hello Kitty purse (duh! it should have been completely obvious!). I wasn’t about to buy it since her Grandmom recently got her a really nice Hello Kitty purse but I didn’t mind her looking at it so I got it down. And then she got REALLY upset when she found that it was stuffed with crumpled paper and nothing pretty inside! After this she was inconsolable. We still had a bit more time left so we walked around a bit (while she grumbled) and then checked out. Then we went to a clothing store next door where only thing immi wanted to do was to open up everything in the Toysrus bag and take off her shoes. And here we are waiting out side for immi’s dad to come get us. She is vocalizing her grumpiness and almost crying.

We picked up an order of sushi before coming back home. Immi loves the avocado roll and miso soup!

big box

August 19th, 2008 | By Kyoko

We received a big box of goodies from immi’s Ojiichan and Obaachan who recently moved back to Japan (from Vietnam, permanently!). This is a perfect treat for Immi and I since it’s a little too quiet here with Todd in Detroit on business trip this week (we miss you!!).

Immi is tapping on the box, which means “Open this!”

Immi unpacking the box and inspecting contents.

Immi is grumpy now because she spotted packs of gummies but I woudn’t open any of them. I’m quite sure that she knows they are gummies. It’s packaged like the ones she gets sometimes which are formulated for toddlers and has easy to eat texture.

Immi cheered up already because she found a Hello Kitty bag, it even matches the dress she is wearing!

mad

July 31st, 2008 | By Kyoko

She HATES commercials on the radio (we listen to radio in the bedroom when Immi wants music because Todd has been borrowing my PINK iPod since his broke) — she throws a mini tantrum every time.

She gets upset when she sees that there is more drink left in her cup but can’t drink it because her straw doesn’t reach.

When Immi sees cats sitting on stools (and our kitties do this often!) she gives them kisses and then pushes them off.

Immi has suddenly gotten very possessive and she seems to not want to “share” me. Yesterday, she spent a lot of effort trying to push off Oskar (he is quite chubby and he was comfy where he was!) who was snuggling next to me. She gets upset even about her dad being near me and would peel his hands off of me.

But Immi is a happy immi even when she is grumpy: )
