Having coffee at Flying Cat Coffee. Immi, wanted to jump up and down on the couch because her little brother was jumping up and down on his daddy’s lap. So I had to tell her that she is too big for jumping on the couch, but that big immi gets to have a super yummy organic lollipop with vitamin C in it. She was happy with the arrangement :)

If there is one thing on earth that an Immi loves it is splashing and making lots of bubbles in the bath.

When Barack Obama officially became our 44th President, Immi clapped her hands (she always does when other people are cheering).

January 14th, 2009 | By Todd

Little Immi insisted on putting on her pink sunglasses and boots before bedtime.

Nobody can be totally glam without a plastic banana!

“Mmmmmmmmmmm it’s so tasty”

Mr. Oskar looks a little grumpy because he didn’t get pink sunglasses!  How sad :(

dancy dance dance!

January 10th, 2009 | By Todd

Immi has been in the habit of dancing with stuffed animals, dolls and pretty much anything that happens to be around when she starts to boogie. Here is a little animation of her dancing to evanescence with her new x-mas babydoll:

saturday

We woke up this morning to a fridge full of nothing, so here we are at Starbucks. Happy immi playing with her pony.

I built the stroller immi’s grandmom got for immi (luckily this only took about a minute!) and immi loved it immediately! …but the only one she is willing to push around in the stroller is her red puppy. I also caught her giving this puppy a pretend bath, something I haven’t seen her do with her baby doll…

bookstore

It’s quite late at night but Todd needed a book for his work so we are at Barnes & Noble. Immi loves the children’s book section because they have the big train set and many benches around it. This area is most often crowded with older and quite rude boys during the day (immi seems to be very selective about whom she flirts with, and I’m happy to say that she doesn’t care for rude ones!) but no one is here right now! Immi is very happy to be playing with the trains and sitting on all the benches one after another.

Immi-Chan Raids Fresh World

November 6th, 2008 | By Todd

Immi needed soymilk so we ran out to Fresh World (an new international food store) tonight. They were playing happy dance dance club music so Immi did not want to sit in the shopping cart. Oh no no no…she wanted to run up and down the aisles dancing and clapping her hands. Next she wanted to push the cart. To my total amazement she actually pushed the cart up and down two aisles until she got bored with it. For such a tiny thing she is very very strong. She was very happy in the pocky and candy aisle for some odd reason (sweets).

Next she wanted to go stare at the fishes in the fish tank! So she would go running up and down the aisles dancing, rummaging and then come back to point at the fish swimming around in the fish tank! Eventually she wanted to stick her hand in so I had to pull her away and fly her around the store upside down.

Then Immi ran all the way to the front of the store where the checkout counters were and I saw gigantic pink heart-shaped balloons which she clearly would not be able to live without if she saw them. The balloons were sooo big I didn’t think they would fit in the car so I had to distract her, take her out front and keep her entertained for a bit while her mom a finish grocery shopping.

Imms has become a Fresh World raider!

fever

October 14th, 2008 | By Kyoko

Immi had a bit of fever (I figured she was just teething) and spent most of the day sitting, laying down or sleeping. Her fever got worse later in the evening (then I thought maybe she caught some virus?) so I gave her some Moltrin and in less than an hour: ta-da!! — a happy immi!

When I catch immi chewing on something that I think she shouldn’t be eating, I put out my hand and ask her to spit it out. Usually, she shakes her head profusely in denial and then spit it out (quite often it’s a piece of paper…). This evening when I stuck my hand out in front of her, she grinned — instead of denying! — and spat out into my palm a huge blob of pulverized carrot stick!

electronic

September 25th, 2008 | By Kyoko

Immi took over my laptop.

Immi is talking to her dad in Detroit on the phone. Immi got really happy when she heard his voice!

Immi and I were sorting her toys this afternoon. Immi poked around on her non-responsive electronic toy for a bit, and then (correctly!) came to conclusion that it was out of battery. She flipped the toy over, identified the battery compartment and tried to pry it open with her fingers! Of couse it wouldn’t open since it requires a screw driver, but I ended up having to put new batteries in a toy I know Immi won’t play with for much longer than a minute. When did she get so smart?

shopping

September 10th, 2008 | By Kyoko

Immi and I went to get ID from Reston Association (for proof of residence in VA for me to get learner’s permit!) with Immi’s grandmom. And then we met up with her friend Jill for lunch and shoe shopping!

We are at Olive Garden (Immi and I have never eaten here before!) and immi is looking at the menu.

Now we are at DSW for shoes (We’ve never been in here either!). Immi is SO HAPPY walking around row after row of shoes. I doubt she could have been any happier if we were at Disney Land!

…And then she found entire section of bags and purses!

We walked over to Loehmann’s (never been in here either!) and immi found lots and lots of sparklies.

And then we went to Toysrus where Immi got a pair of little black boots and plastic beaded necklaces. I think that Immi is starting to understand how shopping works because she handed the necklaces (she was wearing them at the time) at the register without hesitation and then she put them right back on when they were done being scanned!

We had so much fun shopping that I couldn’t believe we were out for 5.5 hours!

yay!

Immi is stacking blocks. Very pleased with herself, she squealed in glee and clapped when she got the one on the top to stay on. What you don’t see is that inside the big box on the very bottom, there are 2 blocks that are stacked. The bottom one is the tiniest box which makes this five-block tower very wobbly!

Immi is doodling with pens. She loves pens even though it can be a little messy. Immi can put correct color caps back on the pens!

Immi loves dips! I found out she can dip things into food when I made guacamole for my chips. She had lots of fun having her tortilla with guacamole. Now she thinks that every side of blob is a dip. She wanted to dip crackers on my cheese plate into a side of mayo…

suitcase

August 13th, 2008 | By Kyoko

Top of my amp was oskar’s favorite space which more recently became Miss Monroe’s napping spot. Now it’s immi’s stash depository.

We haven’t put away the suitcase from Todd’s last trip to Detroit. Immi thinks that it’s an ImmiPod. It even has a built-in seat belt and she is trying to buckle herself in.

walk

August 6th, 2008 | By Kyoko

Just our usual walk in the late afternoon. Immi at the playground. She wanted to tidy up the wood chips someone left on the playset and I had to stop her from sweeping them up with her entire arm (I didn’t want splinters in her hands and arms! Immi got one in her foot at the beach which was definitely not fun to remove!)

Immi found a leaf!

bagel and coffee

August 2nd, 2008 | By Kyoko

Todd had a bagel craving so were we are! Immi and her daddy waiting for our breakfast bagel sandwiches.

…and we ran out of coffee at the house so we stopped at Starbucks. Immi is having apple crunchies. Todd is having Grande Iced White Mocha and I’m having Tall Caramel Macchiato.

Doraemon

July 30th, 2008 | By Kyoko

Todd and his colleague/friend came home for dinner (immi loved Daniel especially because he let her wear his bracelet!) and then left again to go back to work to finish up a project. So Immi and I are having snack&movie night watching Draemon (a classic japanese cartoon series featuring the cat shaped robot from the future). Immi seems to enjoy animated movies a lot and I do too.

It’s been a challenge lately taking blog-ly good (descriptive, candid, in focus, ok lighting) photo of immi because she wants to see herself on the camera screen. She rushes over as soon as she sees the camera and I end up with photos that look like this:
