block tower video

February 11th, 2009 | By Todd

Immi continues to amaze me with her intelligence, creativity, and dexterity.  I show her how to stack a few blocks and she build a block sky scraper!

Before our poopy-pants  western doctors attempt to tell us that Immi is too thin or Immi does not talk early enough…perhaps they should read Immi Blog.  A two minute screaming office encounter is hardly enough to tell anything about anyone, much less get to know Imms.

Perhaps they should not use outdated development charts from fat, white, American bottle-fed babys from the mid-west that were taken like half a century ago.  Perhaps they should ask more questions about the childhood development of the parents to discover things that might be relevant to her development like that Kyoko has always been petite and that I started talking late…in order to make a relevant diagnosis BEFORE they subjugate children to additional, needless, expensive and sometimes painful testing.

I wonder if our Doctors themselves were stacking blocks 18 high @ two years of age?  Probably not.  Oh well!  Immi is too smart and cool to want to be a doctor anyway, she will probably be a fashion diva or rocker star!

electronic

September 25th, 2008 | By Kyoko

Immi took over my laptop.

Immi is talking to her dad in Detroit on the phone. Immi got really happy when she heard his voice!

Immi and I were sorting her toys this afternoon. Immi poked around on her non-responsive electronic toy for a bit, and then (correctly!) came to conclusion that it was out of battery. She flipped the toy over, identified the battery compartment and tried to pry it open with her fingers! Of couse it wouldn’t open since it requires a screw driver, but I ended up having to put new batteries in a toy I know Immi won’t play with for much longer than a minute. When did she get so smart?

copy cat

Immi is clearly learning by example because she seems to think that every computer time needs a snack and drink to go with it.

Immi is lounging in her chair and reading.

green!

Immi recycles now!

…well, I don’t think that she knows about the process of recycling, but she knows that empty plastic bottles go into our recycle bin and not the regular trash bin located next it. We better watch out because she might stick the bottle in the recycle bin even if we were planning on re-using it a couple times.

trash

August 20th, 2008 | By Kyoko

Immi seems to understand the concept behind trash bin! When immi is done eating her cereal bar, she puts the wrapper in the trash. When she peels the border off the sticker sheet, she rolls it up in her palms and puts it in the trash. When immi finished having cereals in the tiny chocolate box from Japan earlier today (I ate the chocolate and refilled it with cereal before giving it to immi…is that mean? ) she put that in the trash too. In the past few weeks I’ve been watching her put stuff in trash, I have yet to catch her putting non-trash into trash bin.

And I have evidence that immi remembers things from a month before. When immi spotted Boo-Boo Juice (her foaming wound cleanser that smells like fruits!) in the bathroom cabinet, she pretended to put it on her knees just like the last time we used it, which was about a month ago. It’s not that I didn’t know that she has long term memory, but it’s fun to see glimps of what goes on inside Immi’s head!

louder!

August 4th, 2008 | By Kyoko

Immi definitely knows how to turn on the radio. She can now reach the power button which was out of reach until now, she knows which switch make it play radio, and she figured out about the volume knob. Immi likes her music loud it seems — Immi might look more like me (we even have exactly the same bellybutton!), but she definitely got lots of her personality from her dad. I kept turning down the volume just a tad and Immi kept turning it up just a bit (I think it’s a milestone of sorts that she can do something “just a bit”!).

Immi is turning on the radio wearing my skirt (we were reorganizing my skirt drawer and immi wanted to wear it) which for her is a mermaid dress!

Immi stole my cookie and took it to her hiding place! If immi were an animal, she would be a cat. Except sometimes she reminds me of a hamster (dexterous, beady eyes, fluffy).

Immi’s daddy is in Detroit with business this week until late at night on Thursday. He will probably traveling there every other week (mon–thurs). We miss you!!
