Today is one of those days that can be much improved with a yummy bowl of phở, so that’s what we are doing. Immi fell asleep on the drive here and when the food came to the table, her dad sat her in the highchair. …But she fell back asleep in less than half a second!

After 20 minutes or so of snooooze, she did wake up a good appetite and had some phở and spring rolls. When she was done eating her dinner, she got out her lollipop she stashed at the doctor’s office earlier.

Our weekly appointment with the OB went fine. Everything is normal and good. I’m still at 2.5 cm-ish, so I guess the baby decided to stick around for a little while longer. The big quetion is weather he’ll be a Cancer (“grumpy, secretive, passive-agressive grudge-hoarder, with bipolar mood swings and a positive genius for pointless worrying”) or a Leo (“vain, arrogant, condescending sopipsist with imperial longings and an all-pervasive addiction to unconditional sycophancy”)! [ATTN: If you think that these descriptions are mean and unfair, complain to Stella Hyde of the Darkside Zodiac!]

thursday

We are having some electrical work done and immi and I are trying to stay our of his way. She is keeping her self busy doing the usual stuff. …One of which is stuffing her little toys into various things (toy toaster and toy mug!) that they can be stuffed into.

toaster

…And the other is doodling. I offered her a clipboard for her paper, but she didn’t want it, immi seems to have decided it’s fun to poke through the paper.

I got immi a pencil case the other day for her color pencils, but the only thing she wants to do with it is to take her pencils out and stuff them with her little toys!

The baby No.2 and I had a weekly appointment yesterday. I had few hours of contractions for several hours (about 1 minute long and 4–5 minutes apart) very early Monday morning and we considered calling the doctor since that’s exactly how immi happened. But I decided against calling in since we weren’t ready to have him yet! Anyway, it all worked out fine and the baby is staying put for the time being. The workout on Monday morning did get me 2–3 cm dilated so I guess i’m 25% of the way there. Everything else looks good, my belly measures on target, the baby has good heartbeat, and I didn’t gain any weight since last week (which the doctor said is fine).

Immi has been extra cuddly lately. She definitely suspects something is on the way. I finally set up crib with new crib bedding (pastel-green/tan safari) and immi’s been on her tiptoes looking in. She KNOWS it’s not for her because it’s not pink.

garden + good news

June 29th, 2009 | By Kyoko

Immi and her daddy are out on the balcony looking at all the veggies and herbs that are getting really big!

Immi is playing with the wind chimes and she is singing along.

We had the sonogram appointment today. The baby is 6 lb 2 oz now. Which sounds really big to me! Anyway, even better news is that the dilation in his bowel is completely gone! We won’t have to have sonogram appointments anymore, just that the baby will have to have his stomach thoroughly examined when he is born. I have an appointment with my OB tomorrow, we’ll see what he says.

legos and lollipop

June 23rd, 2009 | By Kyoko

We are playing with legos this evening. These days immi seems obsessed with stacking things in a *neat* pile (even with things that doesn’t naturally stack neatly like legos…).

legos

The No.2 and I had appintment with our OB today. He said that every thing looks good and that the sonogram result is a good news. I even measured normal and not too small this week. The doctor said that I’m a PERFECT patient:) I’m at 35 weeks today, so I have just a bit over month left till the due date. And here’s immi enjoying her biweekly lollipop from the appointment (It’s after dinner and she remembered about the lollipop in her purse). Somehow I don’t think that it’s very ‘kid-like’ to stash her candy in purse for later…

lolly

Oh, and immi’s grandmom got her little brother a lot of cute clothes last week! He has a wardrobe now:D (thank you!!!) She even got immi many dresses and sparkly pink shoes which immi seems to adore. Anyway, now I feel good knowing he won’t have to be naked. We just need few more things, lots and lots of organizing, and bunch of paper work and we’ll be ready…

lollipop and no.2

June 15th, 2009 | By Kyoko

We had another sonogram appointment today. And guess what? The dilated portion of the baby’s bowel is shrinking! The doctor said that it’s only half the size compared to 2 weeks ago. …so *hopefully* it’ll keep shrinking and that it won’t be a problem. Otherwise, everything is as usual, he is still a boy:| And the really good news is that I only have to go back every 2 weeks instead of every week.

Only bit of these appointments that immi enjoys is the bit where she gets a candy. She is still chewing on the teeny bit left on the stick.

lollipop

…and with all these sonogram appointments, we’ve accumulated a huge number of printouts. Quality of the images vary even though they are scans from very very good equipment because they spend most of the time looking at his stomach area. But if the technician is nice, I do get to see his face quite clearly in 3D sometimes.

no. 2 update

March 10th, 2009 | By Kyoko

Aside from the usual Monday fun, we also had an appointment with our OB. He talked to us again about the sonogram result and basically reassured us that there’s really no need for worry. We are to make another sonogram appointment in about 2 months to be sure that markers have gone away the way they usually do.

Otherwise, it was a very usual appointment. I’m 20 weeks along today (exactly halfway point!) and suddenly gotten much bigger. We got to hear the heartbeat mixed with lots of *thud*s from kicking.

I’m doing absolutely fine except for that I get quite bad cramps when I stand or move about for a while. I don’t remember this much discomfort from when I had immi so I asked about this and the doctor said that it’s basically a second baby syndrome (there’s more room for the baby to move around inside the second time around and this apparently hurts). I was actually happy to hear this since I was worried that I had grown more complainy!

immi is having…

February 27th, 2009 | By Kyoko

…a little brother!

We had the level II sonogram today (I’m currently 18 weeks and 5 days along). After a very long poke and jab (the baby was being very very active and won’t sit still even for a split second!) they were able to get an image of all the major organs and limbs and verified 5 little fingers on hands and feet. Honestly, I consider myself a quite experienced sonogram patient at this point, but he was moving around so fast that I had no idea what I was looking at most of the time…

And because he won’t sit still for the photo, we didn’t get a very good printout, I’d say the one from last month is better. Here’s the least worst one from today.

sonogram2d

They also printed for us a 3D picture, just for fun (not particulary dignositically useful, apparently). Todd thinks (and I agree) that 4D scans are creepy looking, but if you can relax your eyes a little, you can see his face quite well.

sonogram3d

There’s just one catch. Sort of. They detected what’s called “soft markers” which can, combined with other indicators (of which so far we have absolutely none), indicate chromosome abnormality. We’ll be talking to my OB about it at my next appointment for sure, but there’s really no need for worry at this point since the baby appears to be structurally perfect and my nuchal translucency test came out really well. Of course I’m annoyed that now I’m at least a little anxious.

Anyway, I think that the bigger issue here is that we are having a BOY! I hope he likes the color pink and My Little Ponies, since that’s what we got:D All kidding aside, seriously, what am I going to do with all of immi’s little shoes I’ve been saving for her little sister???

sibling sonogram video

January 18th, 2009 | By Todd

Here is a short sonogram video clip of Immi’s sibling side-kick to be.  It won’t be long now before Immi is a big sister, kind of crazy because she is so tiny!

No. 2

December 16th, 2008 | By Kyoko

We are at our Obstetrician’s office for the very first check up! Here’s immi having some munchies with while waiting for the appointment.

Here’s immi being her usual self.

Immi got to see her sibling for the first time! (They gave me a print out of the screen but honestly this photo todd took is actually much better!)

Immi’s little sister/brother is still very very small, but we saw that s/he has a beating heart that looks like a tiny twinkling star on the screen.
